Cinch Consulting is a one-man firm run by Curry W. Smith. Working with small- to medium-sized organizations, Cinch provides a litany of services to support nonprofit organizations focused on civic engagement, economic equity, and social justice. Oversaw development and fundraising efforts during the 2018 midterm election cycle, effectively serving as the first-ever Director of Development for the organization.

Idea Village
New Orleans

Designed, implemented, and managed an invitation-only VIP program to engage individuals with emotional and personal ties to New Orleans while forging meaningful connections to local community leaders.

Managed all aspects of communications, design, marketing, and public relations for New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW), the organization’s signature annual event.

Served as Director of External Affairs & Government Relations, holding responsibility for relationships with all community and national partners across nonprofit, private, and public sectors.

Developed ambassador program for mentorship organization to facilitate ways for celebrities and influencers to assist with advocacy and fundraising efforts on the organization’s behalf.

Led event planning logistics for the inaugural National Fried Chicken Festival inclusive of site inspections, site mapping, special permit procurement, and local government relations.

 

Previous Work

Before working as an independent consultant, Curry spent a decade working with nonprofit organizations based in New Orleans during the rebuilding of the city following Hurricane Katrina. His work took him from roles in business development and communications at the regional economic development group Greater New Orleans, Inc., to the position of executive director at the civic engagement-focused Young Leadership Council, to a founding member of the annual giving circle Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans. In addition to his experience in the nonprofit sector, Curry has a background in community outreach and public relations, working with clients ranging from a statewide government agency to a major health insurance company to a philanthropic community foundation.
